About

Hello! I'm Jordan, the voice behind With Heart From the Home. I'm a SAHM and homemaker and we've lived in Arkansas for over 6 years now. My husband and I are originally from Oklahoma but his job brought him here before we were married and I joined him in the Natural State after our wedding on October 4, 2014.

We have one child, a daughter named Leighton Kate. As of writing this, she is 2 years 8 mos old. She's a good mixture of the two of us, brave and smart and funny. She has a kind heart and loves to share with 'boys and girls'. I share a lot about her milestones, teaching her from home in the form of tot school and other activities she enjoys. It's a blessing to be home with her and to take it all in! I mostly started this blog to capture these little memories, so you will hear a lot about her :)

I also share about our debt free journey and how we budget. We've done Dave Ramsey-ish for years, but became 'gazelle intense' January of 2020 and have seen so many blessings (mostly in the form of odd jobs) since plowing into our pile of debt *ahem* student loans. Although this journey has become personal for us, I do like to share how we've learned to cook well on a budget, the envelope system we use, what our financial goals are overall and other little debt payoff tidbits.

Organizing my daughters clothing, toys and room has become a little joy for me in motherhood. I share how we organize these things in various posts. I hope to update with each growth spurt or toy purge!

Mostly, this blog is an outlet for me to be my wordy self when I'm spending these years home with our toddler. I have a passion for creating a peaceful home, helping our daughter learn, serving my family and pursuing a relationship with Jesus each day. I love to read Amish Christian fiction, anything by Janette Oke or Melody Carlson. Learning about women in the pioneer days is a hobby of mine and my favorite historical figure is Caroline Ingalls. I love long walks, going on dates with my husband or simply putting a movie in once our sweet girl goes to bed and having a hot cup of coffee while reading my daily bible reading in the early mornings.

You won't find perfectly curated photos here. Mostly just snapshots and snippets of thoughts I have in motherhood along with other posts about passions of mine.

I hope you enjoy this simple blog. Blessings to you and your families!

With heart from our home,

Jordan

Single Serving Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe

I had a few hours to myself today and decided to search for a good single serving chocolate chip cookie recipe. I found one by cookingclassy.com and thankfully it turned out so great! It was similar to the taste and size of Crumbl Cookies chocolate chip cookie (they are my favorite!) The dough is a very crumbly consistency so I recommend once you have your baking sheet lined with parchment paper to just dump it on top and form it into a large disc. I had a hard time trying to get the dough to come together so I opted to do this instead. See the recipe below! Ingredients: 2 TBSP butter (I used unsalted) 3 TBSP packed light-brown sugar. 1 pinch of salt. 1 TBSP whisked egg (crack egg in bowl and mix up well then scoop out 1 TBSP and add to your bowl.) 1/4 tsp vanilla. 1/3 cup all purpose flour. 1/8 tsp baking soda. 3-4 TBSP chocolate chips.  Recipe: Melt butter in microwave until only a little left is unmelted. mix together so that all is melted. Place butter in fridge to cool s...

Meatloaf Muffins Recipe

This recipe is served well because of the smaller portions and ease of transfer. No cutting into a big loaf and hoping it cooked all the way through!  This is a very basic meatloaf recipe and I found the original on Every Day Mom's Meals , though I've changed it up quite a bit to fit our family.  See recipe below! Ingredients: 2 lbs ground beef 2 eggs, beaten 1 green bell pepper, diced 1 cup plain bread crumbs salt and pepper to taste 1/4 cup ketchup + extra to top muffins 2 TBSP Worcestershire sauce Recipe: Preheat oven to 350. Spray muffin tin with non stick spray and set aside. In large bowl mix all ingredients well (I use my hands to make sure it's thorough) Fill each muffin tin with some meat mixture, leaving about a half inch from top empty so it doesn't overflow while cooking.  Take your ketchup and squirt a bit on top of each muffin. Bake for 25 minutes at 350. After time is up, heat oven to 400 and continue baking for 10-15 more minutes. This makes the top and ...
